Thailand’s Gemopolis industrial estate is preparing a major expansion of its Free Zone, adding new production space intended primarily to attract international jewellery manufacturers, according to a report by Jewellery Outlook.
The Bangkok estate, which is a hub for jewellery manufacturers including Pandora, plans to construct eight additional buildings totalling 38,000 sq m. Work on the first four buildings, covering 20,000 sq m, is scheduled to begin in June 2027, with the full development expected to be completed by 2031.
Jewellery will remain the principal target for the expanded estate, according to Gemopolis management, although it will also seek tenants from the technology, electronics and medical-tool industries.
The investment represents a significant increase in Thailand’s tax-advantaged manufacturing capacity and could strengthen the country’s position against alternative jewellery production centres in China, India and Italy. Thailand’s gem and jewellery exports reached $26.59 billion in 2025, according to the country’s Gem and Jewelry Institute, although this falls to $13.59 billion when unwrought gold is excluded.
