The actor Ariana DeBose looked radiant in red last night as she scooped her very first Academy Award for her portrayal of Anita in Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of West Side Story. Channelling old Hollywood glamour with a custom red Valentino Couture outfit, the star chose a suite of diamond jewels from DeBeers to complete her look.
“As Ariana’s Academy Awards look is so unique and individual, we needed jewellery that was going to stand apart as well,” explains Zadrian Smith, one half of DeBose’s styling team, Zadrian + Smith. “We chose stunning natural diamonds from De Beers, who had pieces that measured up to the magnitude of this moment.”

“When we found out that the earrings and necklace she’s wearing were named ‘Drops of Light’, it felt serendipitous,” added Smith’s styling partner, Sarah Edmonton. “Ariana is such a light, illuminating the spaces around her.”
DeBose was equally enthusiastic about her sparkling accessories. “When we chose the jewellery for the big night, I put on the diamond necklace from De Beers and the pieces immediately evoked light and music from within,” she said. “Each one really spoke to me for this moment and it was the perfect way to celebrate this incredible evening. And I know De Beers is committed to sustainability, which is a win for me.”

To add some not-so-subtle sparkle to her evening, DeBose layered De Beers Drops of Light diamond necklace, with 20.73 carats of white diamonds set in platinum, with the another platinum necklace by the jeweller, set with 41.29 carats of diamonds. A pair of matching diamond earrings, an 18k white gold and diamond bracelet and two diamond rings, one with 3.75 carats of white diamonds and another with 1.05 carats of diamonds in white gold, amped up the actor’s red carpet wattage.

Not that she needed it. With a golden Oscar statuette in her arms and a winning smile that lit up every corner of the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, De Bose proved that her star power shone just as brightly as the diamonds that she rocked last night.
