Archi Dior jewellery collection updated with new designs

The Archi Dior jewellery collection has been updated by Artistic Director Victoire de Castellane with eight new pieces. Three of these were inspired by Christian Dior's revolutionary Bar suit.

Story by Adam Fine

The Bar suit was first presented in 1947 with a pleated skirt cut from four meters of black wool and a natural shantung silk jacket with soft curves and a pleated strip which emphasised a tight waist. This sculptural fashion creation quickly became a signature of the House of Dior.

Since 2014, Victoire de Castellane has paid tribute to these creations through her Archi Dior collection. “My idea was to sketch and reinterpret in metal the most difficult elements of these Dior dresses, such as the ruffles and the pleats. Things that are obvious when drawn or composed in fabric become a challenge when applied to jewellery,” explains the Artistic Director of Dior Joaillerie.

Its jewellery incarnation Bar en corolle features a white gold ruffle and a diamond belt that appears as a luminous necklace and bracelet. To complete the set a pair of fan-shaped earrings are set with a pear cut diamond that may also be worn as a simple stud.
