It was a busy night at the 95th Annual Academy Awards for dazzling diamonds. With stars adorned in Moussaieff, Bulgari, Tiffany and Cartier, amongst others, we check out all the jewellery action from the champagne coloured carpet at the Oscars 2023

It was an historic night at the Oscars 2023. The multiverse-hopping sci-fi film Everything Everywhere All At Once broke records, scooping seven awards including best film, best director and best actress for Michelle Yeoh – the first Asian actress to garner the prize.
Lady Gaga and Rihanna performed their Oscar-nominated songs from Top Gun Maverick and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (though both were pipped to the actual award by Naatu Naatu from the hit Telugu-language film, RRR). And both Ke Huy Yuan and Brendan celebrated stellar career comebacks when they won the gong for Best Supporting Actor and Best Actor, respectively. As with previous awards ceremonies this season, celebrities did it all in a myriad of shimmering diamond jewels, which lit up this year’s surprisingly pale, champagne-coloured ‘red’ carpet.
Here, we countdown some of our favourite looks of the night.
Best Actress winner, Michelle Yeoh, wore a Moussaieff diamond high jewellery necklace in her hair as a delicate hairband, alongside pear-cut diamond earrings and a white diamond ring from the London jeweller, plus a diamond-set watch from Richard Mille.
Best supporting actress nominee Angela Bassett opted for a snake-like Bulgari Serpenti necklace with white diamonds to accompany her regal purple Moschino gown.
Before a costume change to sing her hit song Lift Me Up, from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Rihannah adorned herself in a delectable pair of orange-brown diamond drop earrings, and two orange-brown diamond rings by Moussaieff.
Michael B Jordan revisited the pair of Schlumberger-designed Bird on a Rock brooches by Tiffany & Co that he wore recently in London for the Creed III premiere, taking the amethyst and aquamarine pins for a spin at the Academy Awards.
Tiffany & Co. was also the jeweller of choice for Lady Gaga, who paired her black Versace gown with an archive diamond collar, bracelet and earrings by the New York house.
Florence Pugh also opted for Tiffany & Co, choosing a dramatic diamond necklace that echoed the dramatic flounces of her voluminous Valentino couture dress.
Actor Mindy Kaling wore a pair of pendant earrings from the Carte Blanche Ailleurs high jewellery collection by the Parisian house of Boucheron, which featured smoked quartz, with baguette and round cut diamonds.
Sandra Oh embellished her sunshine-coloured Giambattista Valli couture gown with an equally radiant vintage necklace from Harry Winston from Briony Raymond Estate, bringing a welcome shot of colour to the pale beige ‘red’ carpet.
Nicole Kidman also went for Harry Winston and sparkled in a pair of 4.94 carat diamond and platinum earrings, two diamond bracelets and a diamond ring from the marque, plus a dainty timepiece in 18k white gold from the Omega Museum.
Marvel star Elizabeth Olsen made a rare ‘red’ (ok, beige) carpet appearance in a pair of yellow gold and diamond earrings by Cartier, with a matching cocktail ring.
Dapper as ever, best actor nominee Paul Mescal wore a discreet selection of Cartier jewels for the big night, including a Juste un Clou earring, platinum high jewellery brooch and a Cartier Privé Tank Chinoise watch.
Man of the moment Ke Huy Quan continued to show his love of floral lapel pins, this time with a vintage piece from Fred Leighton and an Omega Globemaster watch in stainless steel.
Model and actor Cara Delevigne went for sparkling diamond jewels by Bulgari, including a high jewellery necklace with the Roman jeweller’s signature Serpenti motif.
Jessica Chastain chose a high jewellery Lionhead necklace from Gucci with 18k white gold and 80 carats of diamonds and tsavorites.
Wearing an ornate floral dress, Halle Berry kept her jewellery fairly pared back in comparison, selecting a sleek pair of Pomellato earrings for just a touch of shine.
Presenter and star of the Oscar-nominated film, Avatar: The Way of Water, Zoe Saldana embellished her look with a pair of pendant ear clips from Cartier’s archive, along with a Pluie de Cartier Arabesque necklace in white gold and diamonds, plus a Cartier ring with white gold, diamond and a luminous cultured pearl.
Black Panther actor Danai Gurira attended the ceremony in a high jewellery diamond ear cuff, bracelet, rings and a choker (worn as a hairband) by Messika.
Also draped in an all-black gown, Deepika Padukone went for a high jewellery necklace with white and yellow diamonds and an eye-catching yellow sapphire drop by Cartier, plus a matching diamond bracelet and rings by the Maison.
A vision in shimmering blue Louis Vuitton, best actress nominee Cate Blanchett chose a pair of diamond earrings and rings from Vuitton’s high jewellery collection.
A pro at outstanding awards ceremony looks, Meet the Fabelmans star Michelle Williams topped off her pale Chanel couture gown with a diamond Victoria necklace from Tiffany & Co.
Actor and screenwriter Phoebe Waller-Bridge chose a pink gold and diamond Serpenti necklace set with two beautiful buff-top emeralds by Bulgari.
Leading man du jour, Pedro Pascal, also chose a handful of gleaming Bulgari gems, mixing a B.Zero1 ring with rose and white gold Serpenti Viper rings (a fitting tribute to his one-time Game of Thrones character, Oberyn Martell, AKA The Red Viper, perhaps?)
Meanwhile, Canadian supermodel Winnie Harlow shone in a selection of high jewellery from the London jeweller, David Morris. Her picks included an 18k white gold choker with white diamonds and a matching rose cut white gold bangle, a pair of white gold earrings with round brilliant and pear shaped diamonds, plus four shimmering white gold and diamond rings.
Best actress nominee Ana de Armas paid a subtle tribute to Marilyn Monroe in a silvery custom beaded organza gown by Louis Vuitton, paired with white gold and diamond earrings, bracelet and ring from the house’s high jewellery collection.
Janelle Monáe added dazzle to her two-piece gown courtesy of Reza high jewellery. The actor wore the brand’s diamond Heritage brooch, with 30 diamonds weighing a total of 17.5 carats pinned to the centre of a velvet choker, and paired it with white gold and diamond earrings, a dramatic Spirale diamond ring and an Eventail ring set with 46 white diamonds.
Nobel peace prize winner, Malala Yousafzai, attended the awards as an executive producer on a short movie named Stranger At The Gate, which was nominated for best documentary in the short subject category this year. She did so in a sparkling silver gown, accessorised with Fred Leighton jewels and an emerald ‘flower’ ring by Santi, composed of four 17th century carved Columbian emeralds set with a portrait cut diamonds on a platinum band.
