The annual celebrity-filled trek to the south of France is upon us. Cannes film festival 2023 is well underway, and already the red carpet has been awash with the most impressive sparklers, with white diamond jewellery proving far and away the most popular choice this year.
Gucci ambassador Julia Garner wore white gold and emerald earrings from the Gucci High Jewellery collection and a ring in white gold and and minty tourmaline with diamonds to the Asteroid City red carpet event. She paired this with a custom made green silk chiffon hand-draped gown, with cut-out and long shoulder drapes.
For Lawrence’s scrolling, ribbon-like necklace, Dior’s creative director for jewellery Victoire de Castellane looked to the 1951 couture creations of the house’s founder, Christian Dior. The piece was crafted in 18k white gold and set with over 10 carats of white diamonds.
Gong Li was also a vision in scarlet as she walked the Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny red carpet (right down to the magenta streaks in her hair). She matched her look with a suite of Cartier jewels, including a pair of high jewellery ruby and diamond earrings, two ruby and diamond rings, and a further Panther head ring with in white gold with onyx and tsvorites.
American actor Laura Harrier accessorised her sleek tuxe with a little Bulgari bling. The Hollywood and Spider-Man: Homecoming star wore a high jewellery Monete necklace from the Italian house, which featured an ancient coin (we’re talking 400-350 BC) set as a pendant in pink gold, framed with mother of pearl and pavé white diamonds. She also wore a pair of antique Bulgari emerald stud earrings.
American actor and ‘Godmother’ of the 2023 Trophée Chopard, Portman wore a necklace from Chopard‘s Red Carpet Collection crafted in 18k Fairmined-certified white gold. It was set with over over 119 carats of blue heart-shaped sapphires and over 36 carats of white diamonds. She teamed the piece with matching white diamond earrings and a sapphire and white diamond ring.
Shayk paired her leather-finish gown with the one-of-kind Akh-Ba-Ka necklace by Messika. The diamond jeweller’s extraordinary Egyptian-inspired jewel from the 2022 High Jewellery collection is created in white gold and set with a 33-carat white diamond at its centre.
Spanish actor Expósito looked sublime in a set of Messika diamond jewellery for the Black Flies red carpet call. Her necklace, earrings and rings were all from the Maison’s Born to be Wild high jewellery collection.
Something About Rocks cover star Amy Jackson was a vision in a suite of Chopard jewels, which she styled with a sweeping all-black Pinko gown.
King, who appears in a new Apple TV+ series this coming autumn, chose to wear Piaget diamond jewels for her latest red carpet appearance, with a high jewellery diamond necklace and matching drop earrings, a transformable diamond ring and another marquise-cut diamond ring. The suite took hundreds of hours of work to produce.
Michelle Yeoh
Yeoh continued her stellar post-Oscar tour in a bold green Balenciaga Haute Couture gown, accessorised with a suite of black and white Boucheron jewels including its ‘Grosgrain’ white gold high jewellery necklace, set with aventurine glass, cacholon and diamonds, and white gold pendant earrings adorned with diamonds and black lacquer. Her Pierre Graphique ring continued the monochromatic theme, with black lacquer and a dazzling white diamond.

Supermodel Hadid, a former Messika brand ambassador, attended the red carpet premiere of historical drama Firebrand looking smoking hot in a suite of Messika diamonds. She paired a double ring and pink and yellow diamond Toi et Moi ring from the Maison with its sumptuously lace-like Roaring Diamonds high jewellery necklace, from its Paris set One Fête collection. It was previous seen on the singer Chloe Bailey, who wore it to the 2021 Met Gala.
Model Ambrosio got to premiere a suite of new high jewellery pieces by Pomellato when she attended a screening of Jeanne du Barry at Cannes, part of a collection which will launch later this summer that has been inspired by Milanese architecture. Her gold Skyline necklace is set with 128 bezel-cut spinels in graduated hued and pavé diamonds, plus matching earrings with 12 coloured spinels.
The British supermodel and entrepreneur added serious glitter to an all-black ensemble with a diamond parure from Bulgari. Her high jewellery Serpenti white gold choker held over 60 carats of pavé set diamonds and two pear shaped, brilliant-cut emeralds. She teamed this with a brace of high jewellery Serpenti bracelets – one was a multiple coiled snake with over 45 carats of white diamond pavé scales and pear shaped diamond eyes, the other gleamed with pear cut sapphire eyes.

Spanish actor Vega opted for Messika, too, her strapless gown proving the perfect foil for the Maison’s Move Imperial high jewellery bib necklace, crafted with gold, malachite and diamonds.
