Cara Delevingne sparkled on this year’s Met Gala red carpet in over 500 carats of lab-grown diamonds.

Accompanied by sustainable fashion designer Stella McCartney, the model wore a custom hooded and backless bodice, embellished with lab-created diamonds by Vrai, a jeweller which specialises in creating grown diamonds. The ensemble also included custom diamond cuffs.
Delevingne’s lab-grown diamonds were inspired by the Costume Institute’s latest exhibition, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, and co-created by Vrai with Stella McCartney – who also wore lab-grown diamonds – using zero emissions.

To accompany the sleeveless body armour, which highlighted her many tattoos, makeup artist Rachel Goodwin for Pat McGrath Labs added clear Swarovski crystals to the inner and outer corners of Delevingne’s eyes.
Cara paired the glitzy bodice with a white satin maxi skirt that featured a trailing hem, also from Stella McCartney. She stacked up Vrai bangles on both wrists to coordinate with her crystal crop top, as well as matching her footwear in the form of silver sparkly platform heeled sandals.
McCartney’s other guests also wore lab-grown diamonds by Vrai, including FKA Twigs and Ed Sheeran, who looked dapper in white gold cufflinks bezel set with two emerald-cut lab-grown diamonds and a matching white gold lapel brooch adorned with a single 2.8-carat emerald-cut lab-grown diamond.

Sheeran’s wife, Cherry Seaborn, coordinated with her husband in a suite of lab-grown diamond jewels: a white gold Cascade necklace dangling with nearly 50 carats of lab-created diamonds in seven cuts, including pear, marquise, oval and princess, and two diamond bracelets, one in white gold and another in yellow gold.

Cara has previously worn many iconic looks to the Met Gala. Indeed, she first attended the ball way back in 2011. Last year’s Karl Lagerfeld–inspired event, however, was particularly special for her due to them being so close.
“Honestly, I cried on the way here a little bit,” she told Vogue in 2023. “It’s kinda like it’s a wonderful thing to be able to do this and honour such an incredible person, not only in fashion but personally as a friend. I owe him so much and it’s an amazing way to remember him.”
