2024 marks the centenary year of Watches of Switzerland, the UK’s biggest seller of Rolex, Omega, Brietling, TAG Heuer and Cartier watches.

Founded 100 years ago in 1924 by Maurice Lane, who formed G&M Lane & Co, as Watches of Switzerland was originally known, as a mail-order buisness, today, the company’s annual sales total around £1.5 billion.

To kick off the 100-year celebrations, French jeweller Cartier has debuted a special limited-edition watch in highly exclusive run of just 100 pieces worldwide.

The new Tank Louis Cartier comes with a brushed gold sunray dial, adorned with Roman numerals for the 12 and 6 o’clock hour markers, on a dark navy alligator strap.

Beating inside, a mechanical 1917MC movement powers the watch- a calibre that can be found in most Tank models – while on the case back, a Watches of Switzerland engraving celebrates a partnership that spans over 70 years.

“This relationship with Cartier, one of the most esteemed watch brands in the world, represents our shared passion for horology and our commitment to delivering exceptional craftsmanship to our clients.”

Laurent Feniou, managing director of Cartier UK, echoed this sentiment, adding: “We are honoured to present this special timepiece which embodies the spirit of Cartier London’s rich heritage in watchmaking and innovation in shaped watches. We are delighted to reveal a unique design of the Tank watch and are thrilled to share this with Watches of Switzerland for their centenary celebration.”
