This one-off Louis Vuitton high jewellery creation was designed by Amfitheatrof to be draped elegantly around the shoulders. It includes 49 white Ayoka and 33 grey Tahitian pearls, as well as 633 diamonds from three of the maison’s previous high jewellery designs which have been upcycled for this bespoke piece.

The metallic grey and white pearls are hand-strung in one fluid line across the chest and back, interrupted only by an Art Deco-inspired assortment of bezel-set diamonds and enameled pavé motifs around both shoulders. Blanchett paired this with a thigh-split silk dress in black and rose pink.

Designed and created at the maison’s Place Vendôme high jewellery atelier in Paris, the bespoke high jewellery piece required the utmost care of expert artisans who fitted the necklace to Blanchett for a precise fit and fall.

Amfitheatrof summed up this specially designed piece for the actress:“This is our third collaboration with Cate, repurposing materials and pieces from existing collections to create a simple elegant line of diamonds and pearls. We aim to surprise and create conversations around imaginative ways to repurpose and reuse materials. New ideas and designs can often appear from what we already have around us; it is all about how you look at the world.”

Blanchett previously collaborated with Francesca Amfitheatrof at last years Bafta Awards, wearing a one-off piece illustrating her commitment to the house. At the Baftas, the actress wore a Louis Vuitton pearl necklace featuring a 23.78-carat repurposed Nigerian tourmaline as well as hand-threaded rows of Tahitian pearls.

The one-off piece she wore last night included not only three previous designs that had been upcycled, but incredibly also the metals used in the shoulder piece had been repurposed from previous designs.

Amfitheatrof designed the shoulder piece to be worn like a precious garment draped elegantly around the shoulders, in a modern imitation of a fur stole.
