The jewellery designer from LA has long had a love for colour and art
Is it a flower? Or is it an Irene Neuwirth creation? The jewellery designer from LA has long had a love for colour and art which she has combined in her eponymous line: handmade pieces that break free from the constraints of the typical jewellery house. The brand is an independent.
It was her “bohemian” mother that inspired her creative side; and her “business-minded” father who taught her about entrepreneurship. It was after college that she began experimenting with jewellery: stringing glass beads together and mixing precious and semi-precious stones together. The brand Irene Neuwirth Jewellery was established in 2003 at the request of those who wanted her one-of-a-kind pieces, essentially.
Whimsical, vibrant, raw and un-manufactured gem cuts are what make her designs instantly recognisable. Her designs have become a red carpet favourite: Naomi Watts, Tracee Ellis Ross, Julianne Moore, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sarah Paulson, Busy Philipps and Ruth Negga.
Neuwirth’s inspiration comes from her travels where she will look for the most interesting and beautiful gemstones to create pieces that combine femininity and sophistication.
