Fendi debuts its high jewellery collection

Delfina Delettrez Fendi reimagines the FF monogram in a cascade of white and yellow diamonds for Fendi’s debut foray into high jewellery

By Joshua Hendren

What better time to unveil Fendi’s debut high jewellery designs than on the AW22 couture runway?

Presented during Paris Fashion Week by Creative Director Kim Jones, the collection was a masterclass in pared-back refinement. Supple leathers, sequins and dainty florals adorned uncomplicated silhouettes and slouchy tailoring, while diaphanous silk gowns provided a brilliant sophistication.

And, of course, with it all came a smattering of diamonds. Designed by Delfina Delettrez Fendi, artistic director of jewellery at Fendi, the inverted FF monogram first introduced by Karl Lagerfeld in 1965 was reimagined in a frosting of yellow baguettes.

Consisting of a necklace, earrings, and a cocktail ring, the new Fendi Flavus parure – a Latin term for yellow or blond – emerged in a shower of white stones interspersed with fancy vivid yellow diamonds. Sparkling in over 1000 stones, the Flavus necklace is forged in white and yellow gold, with a large exceptional fancy vivid yellow emerald cut diamond at its core. Framed by an orbit of FF-monogrammed yellow diamond baguettes, the extraordinary necklace blooms in stems of alternating lengths suspended on a double strand of diamond solitaires.

The Flavus earrings, another piece of the three-jewel set, features the same FF monogram in yellow diamond baguettes, this time centred around a central fancy vivid yellow emerald cut diamond. The final gem, the Flavus ring, replicates this technique with a glittering Fendi diamond at its heart.
