A new offering of yellow gold jewellery and timepieces highlight the Italian luxury house's iconic Horsebit in celebration of the motif's 70th anniversary
By Joshua Hendren
Gucci has delighted with a new collection of jewels and watches which propose a wholly modern take on one of its most iconic emblems, the Horsebit.
Celebrating its 70th anniversary, the Horsebit was first incorporated into loafers by Aldo Gucci, chairman of the Gucci fashion house from 1953 to 1986, reflecting the maison’s storied relationship with the equestrian world.
Ever since, the Horsebit has inspired Gucci’s makers, interpreted in hardware and precious materials across the house’s accessories, jewellery and ready-to-wear lines.
With this newly unveiled collection, yellow gold has been used to craft several new jewellery pieces, including a ring, a necklace and two bracelets styled in a contemporary chain with an alternating Horsebit motif.
The set is made complete with a new necklace and two bracelets, dusted with baguette-cut diamonds and detailed with green enamel.
A further two watches honour the Horsebit. One features a double-row chain punctuated by a lozenge case. The other has a chunkier, three-row chain. Both designs are complete with a geometric dial, brushed in a warm, gold hue.
