If there’s a name worth knowing in the jewellery world right now, it’s Hatton Labs. Since founding the British label in 2018, friends and business partners Jack Cannon and Joe Gelb have built up a loyal celebrity following – think Bella Hadid, Miley Cyrus and Emma Chamberlain – who revisit the label time and time again for their effortlessly cool, punkish designs inspired by British heritage and subculture.

With the highest grade of gold and silver, the pair weave subtle references to London’s historic jewellery quarter, Hatton Gardens, in semi-precious stones and pearls that embellish chunky signet rings, Cuban links, tennis bracelets and playful charms that nod to contemporary pop culture.

Recently, the brand unveiled its AW22 collection which looks to a particular area of Cannes called La Croisette, home of the Cannes Film Festival, which became the backdrop for the third largest jewellery heist of all time back in 2013.

It all began with 72 jewels owned by Israeli billionaire Lev Avnerovich. During this time, the jewellery, which has been described as some of the finest of its time, was on display at the Carlton Intercontinental Hotel, when a single gunman entered the lobby and, in less than a minute, left with an estimated £89 million worth of gems. The site was also the setting for Alfred Hitchcock’s To Catch a Thief, which was filmed 58 years before the robbery.

Drawing on this iconic event, Hatton Labs has debuted a collection inspired by the 72 jewels stolen during the heist, reinterpreting their rare beauty through glittering hardware and masculine cuts. Scenes surrounding the audacious theft are referenced throughout, for example, a pair of lock and key earrings with replica 55-carat diamonds and a doorman’s hat hung as a pendant from a necklace.

Rounding out the range is a selection of the label’s signature pearls, imagined in soft pinks, greens and blues for the AW22 season and produced in Italy by artisans who craft pieces for the likes of Chanel, Gucci, Fendi, Balenciaga, Tiffany & Co, Lanvin and Alexander McQueen.

Looking to get your hands on the new range? La Croisette will be available to shop on the Hatton Labs website and select retailers worldwide imminently.
