Jewels for Ukraine is an exciting new initiative raising funds to help the people of Ukraine, via Hope and Homes for Children. Jessica McCormack, Maggi Simpkins, Ana Khouri and others have all donated pieces
By Kim Parker
Born on a recent visit to the responsibly run Cruzeiro tourmaline mine in Brazil, Jewels for Ukraine is an exciting new initiative spearheaded by the UK-based jewellery editor, Annabel Davidson. Whilst at the mine, Davidson spotted blue indicolite tourmalines and yellow heliodors, gemstones in the colours of the Ukrainian flag, and asked Douglas Neves, CEO of Cruzeiro, if they could be fashioned into jewels which could be used to raise funds for the people of Ukraine.
Once the stones had been donated, seven leading jewellers were asked to create one-of-a-kind pieces using the gems: Carla Amorim, Are Vartanian, Prasi, Kiki Alvarenga, Jessica McCormack, Ana Khouri and Maggi Simpkins. They have all generously donated their time, materials, gold, diamonds and craftsmanship to the cause.
Each unique designer jewel will be raffled via individual prize draws on Justgiving.com for a period of three weeks. For a donation of £10 people can enter for the chance to win, with names drawn at random at the end of each three-week period.
100% of donations will go directly to Hope and Homes for Children, which is providing life-saving support for thousands of vulnerable children, carers and parents in war-torn Ukraine, including access to food, water and protection. The charity is also supporting displaced families and unaccompanied children with material and emotional support.
The first piece to be raffled is a toi-et-moi ring by the Brazilian designer Carla Amorim. Click here for your chance to enter and win. One winning name will be drawn on Friday, 11th May 2022.
