Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, brought high-octane glamour as she stepped out in the glittering Lotus Flower Tiara at a reception for members of the Diplomatic Corps at Buckingham Palace last night.

Joining Prince William and King Charles III and the Queen Consort, the Princess of Wales opted for a sequinned gown by Jenny Packham, which she teamed with a pair of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s antique earrings along with a royal blue sash across her chest with the brooch of the Royal Victorian Order, a white enamel Maltese cross with a Tudor crown, and a yellow Family Order.

The pièce de résistance, however, was the sparkling Lotus Flower Tiara, which was previously a favourite of Princess Margaret.

The diamond topper, also known as the Papyrus tiara, is actually made from a necklace that was given to the late Queen Mother by her husband, George VI in April of 1923 as a wedding present. Within six months, the piece had been dismantled and transformed into a tiara by the court jeweller Garrard.

The then Duchess of Cambridge was previously seen wearing the diadem in 2013 at a Buckingham Palace party, as well as at a state banquet in honour of President Xi Jinping of China in 2015.
