British jewellery brand Missoma has once again collaborated with avant-garde designer Harris Reed on a bespoke one-off wearable art piece for London Fashion Week
By Kim Parker
To celebrate the first anniversary of their debut collaboration, London designer Harris Reed and jewellery brand Missoma created a spectacular, one-of-a-kind harness for his latest London Fashion Week show.
Amidst a schedule disrupted by the sad passing of Queen Elizabeth II, the designer forged ahead with a show entitled ‘Mise En Scène’, a tribute to ‘the collective effort, community and collaboration that goes into every Harris Reed collection.’
Inspired by the opulence of a debutante ball, the demi-couture show featured voluminous, ruffled gowns in fuchsia, aquamarine and chartreuse, offset by a number of gothic and monochromatic ensembles, all accompanied by the designer’s signature: opulent headdresses.
For his latest partnership with Missoma, Reed chose to pair a shimmering fishtail skirt with a silvery necklace-slash-harness, adorned with oversized pearls and emblems taken from their bestselling jewellery collaboration – including the ‘In Good Hands’ motif, which has appeared in pearl necklace that has sold out five times over since it launched in September 2021.
“When Harris came to us with this jewelled top idea, we couldn’t wait to help bring his vision to life for his catwalk show,” said Marisa Hordern, CEO of Missoma. “Each piece has been handcast and made in Italy, and are inspired by the symbolic pieces in our best-selling collaboration collection. To us, the harness represents challenging boundaries and expressing ourselves, fluidly, in any way we want to.”
In the ultimate see now, buy now move, the unique necklace heralded the launch of a new Harris Reed x Missoma Anniversary collection, a limited-edition line featuring 14 of the most iconic symbols taken from the pair’s original collaboration.
Lovers of the new silver jewellery trend will find plenty to adore, too – the new collection features three entirely new silver designs, including a labradorite cocktail ring, and North Star pearl hoop earrings, plus more of the collections now-iconic motifs re-cast in silvery tones.
“I love to walk the line between wearable art, but also creating pieces that people can wear in their everyday life too. Working with Missoma allows me to make this dream come true,” said Reed of the new collection.
