Canadian DJ, songwriter and music producer Murda Beatz toted his timepieces in a Fendi bag whilst walking the red carpet at the MTV VMAs in a matching burgundy Fendi suit and a suite of diamond tennis necklaces

It’s an age-old question: just what does a celebrity actually keep in their handbag? This past weekend, Canadian DJ and songwriter, Murda Beatz, helped to answer it by showing off the contents of his Fendi shoulder bag, whilst walking the red carpet at the 39th annual MTV VMAs.
The Grammy-nominated musician, who arrived at the musical awards show dressed in a burgundy Fendi suit and a suite of diamond tennis necklaces artfully layered into a neck-mess, revealed he was carrying four gem-set luxury timepieces to the paparazzi gathered outside the Prudential Centre in Newark, New Jersey.
And what a collection it was. Alongside a rose gold 40mm Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day Date with diamond baguette hour markers (which Murda Beatz once revealed he bought whilst ‘drunk on sake’), there was an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, also in rose gold and set with pavé diamonds, worth around £100k.
True to the lyrics of his song, Shopping Spree, ‘What you want? I want that Patek Philippe’, Murda Beatz also showed off an iconic Patek Philippe Nautilus, nestled right alongside a limited-edition Richard Mille Le Mans watch, which he once bought for himself as a birthday gift. The singer has previously told reporters that he never buys watches merely as investment pieces, but as precious accessories that he can wear forever.
Of his choice to bring his luxury watches along to the event (at a time when it has been widely reported that thefts of luxury timepieces are on the rise), the singer said on social media: “Yo, it’s kinda crazy, I’ve bought my watch collection to the VMAs. People ask, like, ‘what’s in the bag?’ [I] had to bring some variety. It’s a little Skittles pack.”
