House of the Dragon actress Olivia Cooke stars in a new campaign for Blaze by Garrard, a colourful collection inspired by the royal jeweller's design for Princess Diana's engagement ring.

It was the iconic engagement ring that has inspired a million copy-cat designs. Not once, but twice. Now, the sapphire and diamond sparkler that was once worn by Princess Diana and is now owned by the Duchess of Cambridge has inspired a rainbow-hued collection by Garrard. What’s more, the Crown jeweller has signed the actress Olivia Cooke as the face of its colourful new campaign.
Cooke can currently be seen in the spy thriller series, Slow Horses, alongside Gary Oldman and Kristin Scott-Thomas, which has garnered rave reviews since it debuted in April. She also featured in the Oscar-nominated film, Sound of Metal, alongside Riz Ahmed. Next, Cooke will star in the highly-anticipated Game of Thrones spin-off series, House of the Dragon, which is based on George R.R. Martin’s 2018 novel, Fire & Blood.
A perfect fit, then, for the royal jeweller whose latest jewellery collection is called Blaze and was designed “to set the world alight,” according to the brand’s creative director, Sara Prentice. The new pieces invert the circular ‘cluster’ shape of Princess Diana’s famous engagement ring, and shimmer with a riot of “faceted and cabochon gemstones, combined to produce an electrifying synergy of colour and texture,” says Prentice.
Cue blue pieces crafted with sapphires, tanzanites, topaz and turquoise set in white gold. Meanwhile, a pink set sparkles with rosy-coloured sapphires, rubellite and pink opal set in rose gold, and a green set glistens with green tourmalines, tsavorites, and chrysoprase in yellow gold. Finally, there are also white jewels made up with white diamonds, opals, agate and shimmering mother-of-pearl, set in white gold.
As well as rings, the new collection comprises earrings, necklaces, pendants and bracelets, with shapes inspired by the same cluster design.
Garrard has been creating jewels for the British monarchy since it was founded in 1735 – the house received its first royal commission from Frederick, Prince of Wales that same year. With a potential Targaryen queen as the face of its latest collection, it will surely appeal to a whole host of royal style admirers in this Jubilee year.
