Dragon Ball Z fans are in for a treat as Swatch reveals a new collection with the beloved anime. Arriving with seven watches for seven iconic characters, the offering is the boldest and most accessible collaboration of the season
By Joshua Hendren
This year has introduced us to some of the most talked-about watchmaking collaborations in recent times, from Pharrell’s intergalactic take on Bamford’s iconic GMT timepiece to the world’s thinnest watch, courtesy of Richard Mille and Ferrari. But Swatch may have just struck gold with the boldest – and certainly the most accessible – collection of all in partnership with beloved anime Dragon Ball Z.
Revealed are a total of seven new models based on the characters Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Master Roshi (Kame-Sennin), and villains Cell, Frieza, and Majin Buu. Each watch features playful nods to the characters; take the Goku watch which references the hero’s iconic orange and black outfit as well as his 悟 wisdom symbol which punctuates the dial, or the Frieza version which takes a more abstract approach, as the villain’s signature look is translated onto the watch front in a colour-pop pairing of purple and white.
With prices ranging from £66 – £108, the Swatch x Dragon Ball Z collection is available now in-store and online, while a limited and numbered edition of the Shenron x Swatch timepiece drops on October 1st, treating fans to further delights.
