New TAG Heuer Carrera Date in diamonds

It’s extraordinary to think that it was 59 years ago that the first TAG Heuer Carrera launched at the Basel watch fair and changed the face of luxury Swiss watchmaking forever with its classic design beloved by connoisseurs and collectors alike.

A tribute to Jack Heuer’s passion for modernist simplicity named after the Carrera Panamericana, a legendary race track located in Middle America, the Carrera continues to push the envelope with limited-edition updates and bold new case designs.

The 2022 refresh sees the Carrera Date, the brand’s most elegant three-hand watch, set with over 700 diamonds in an exclusive 29mm edition. The updated model, made of steel with a rose gold crown and bezel, retains trademark design codes, such as its facetted lugs and H-shaped bracelet, while reimagining others with a jewellery-led twist.

Such updates include the model’s dial, which now features shimmering mother-of-pearl with rose gold indexes, each set with a diamond, and a date window at 6 o’clock.

Meanwhile, a screwed-down case back includes a sapphire crystal allowing effortless viewing of the watch’s Calibre 9 automatic movement with its customised rose gold plated oscillating mass.

With such a sophisticated and versatile design, it’s no wonder that British actor Simone Ashley has selected the model as her timepiece of choice, debuting the style at the world premiere of Netflix’s The Gray Man in July this year.
