The best watches at the US Open

Aside from becoming a stage upon which some truly spectacular sporting drama unfolded this past fortnight, the 2023 US Open became the unexpected setting for a bit of high-end watch spotting, too, as a flock of A-listers took their seats to take in the action.

With every round of applause, some excellent luxury timepieces could be seen on a slew of celebrity wrists. Here are some of our favourites:

Novak Djokovic

Djokovic lifted the Men’s Singles trophy wearing his unmissable Hublot Big Bang Unico Yellow Magic. It is the same watch he wore to celebrate after winning the Western & Southern Open earlier this summer. Djokovic has been an Hublot ambassador since 2021.

Coco Gauff

19-year-old Coco Gauff smashed her way to her debut Grand Slam championship wearing a Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch with a purple dial.

John Krasinski

The director and star of A Quiet Place wore the IWC Ingenieur watch ref. IW328901. The design of the new 40mm automatic sports watch is directly inspired by Gérald Genta‘s Ingenieur SL from the 1970s.

Justin Timberlake

Timberlake opted for a classic look and accessorised his graphic green and cream sweater with a sleek gold Cartier Santos watch.

Charlize Theron

Wearing a new Breitling Navitimer, Theron cheered on Coco Gauff as she fought her way to claim her first ever Grand Slam Single’s Title. The actress and Breitling ambassador had just helped to celebrate the watch’s launch a few days beforehand, by co-hosting a party with fellow ambassador Misty Copeland.

Jerry Seinfeld

Veteran comedian Seinfeld watched Djokovic clinch a victory over Danilil Medvedev, whilst wearing his Breitling Navitimer Cosmonaute.

Tom Brady

A long-time Rolex aficionado, former American footballer Tom Brady took his new Rolex Daytona ‘Le Mans’ out to watch the men’s semi-final match.

Kylie Jenner

She may have been trying to hide her face behind oversized shades, but there was no hiding Kylie Jenner’s sweet mini Panthère de Cartier watch in yellow gold.

Barack Obama

The former President of the United States kept things low-key, pairing his white shirt and tailored trousers with what seemed to be a sleek black Apple Watch.
