Vintage jeweller Fred Leighton dresses stars at the Oscars

The Oscars carpet may have changed colour – a champagne, instead of the traditional red – but the opulence on show was as over-the-top as ever. This year, many of the best-dressed stars looked to decades past for their jewels, specifically the coveted vintage masterpieces curated by New York-based Fred Leighton.

Ahead, we take a look at the celebrities dressed by the antique jewellery wizard, from Miles Teller to Rooney Mara.

Ke Huy Quan

Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan dazzled in an antique diamond and black velvet pansy brooch paired with a lozenge-shaped diamond lapel pin.

Monica Barbaro

Monica Barbaro opted for not one but two emerald-cut diamond rings, as well as diamond drop earrings of more than 18 carats.

Allison Williams

Allison Williams’ 1950s diamond swirl earrings and purple sapphire and diamond ring made a stunning accompaniment to her whimsical pastel gown.

Chloe East

It was diamonds galore for Chloe East who wore a suite of gasp-inducing vintage jewels, including a Colombian emerald and diamond ring as well as 14.13-carat pear-shaped diamond earrings, a Colombian emerald and diamond necklace and a diamond band ring by Kwait Diamonds.

Olivia DeJonge

Olivia DeJonge looked radiant in these 19th century ruby and diamond chandelier earrings.

Rooney Mara

You can always rely on Rooney Mara for an elevated jewellery moment. Here, she wears three spectacular pieces – a 19th century fringe necklace and an Edwardian diamond choker with a 1920s diamond and onyx ring as the perfect finishing touch.

Miles Teller

When he’s not dancing shirtless on the beach, Miles Teller can be found sparkling in Art Deco platinum stud buttons on the Academy Awards champagne carpet.
