Plunging necklaces, oversized silhouettes, sheer fabrics, cutaway panels: Hailey Bieber certainly isn’t afraid to experiment with her fashion choices, both on and off the red carpet. But when it comes to her accessories, she tends to stick with the classics – think minimalist hoops (she’s apparently a fan of British brands Missoma and By Pariah), layered necklaces and very few rings (aside from her solitaire oval-cut diamond engagement ring from husband, Justin, of course).
Lately though, it seems the model and entrepreneur has been upping her ear game by stepping out in pairs oversized golden studs – either Bottega Veneta’s chunky drop-shaped studs, or a pair of large textured gold squares, which she most recently used to finish an all-gold look on Instagram. Sure, her ‘latte makeup’ look may have instantly set social media ablaze, but her chunky earrings have caused an equally frenzied sensation.
The trend for chunky gold studs has actually been simmering for while, ever since Michaela Coel walked the red carpet at the 2023 Met Gala back in May in a suite of shimmering jewels – including gold stud earrings – created by Ghanaian-British jeweller Emefa Cole from ethical SMO (Single Mine Origin) metal, as per the actor’s request to be “dripping in gold”.
Fancy trying the look for yourself? The good news is, there are plenty of similar styles out there for fans of both Michaela and Hailey’s look. And the even better news is that these earrings will look just as chic with your autumnal blazers and wintery knits as they do right now with summery cutaway dresses – so this is one trend that you can rock for a long time to come.
