There’s definitely a certain je ne sais quoi about Emily in Paris. While not a hit with the critics, the frothy and fashion-tastic romantic comedy set in the City of Light certainly has a feel-good allure that’s kept it high up in the popularity charts since its 2020 debut.

A big part of Emily in Paris’ appeal is its fabulous mélange of characters – including its star, Lily Collins – and their colourful, sometimes outrageous (and yet, crucially, also commercially tempting) outfits, including a sprinkling of stackable diamond jewels that have had viewers wondering how to get their hands (and wrists, necks and ears) on them.
Wonder no more: it’s been revealed that a significant number of these wearable pieces are by the lab-grown diamond brand, Nue – named after the French word for ‘naked’ as its ethos is to make pieces ‘that feel like a second skin’. “It was exciting to see so many Nue pieces featured on the show this season,” says founder and designer Priyanka Mehta, who established the brand in Antwerp in 2019.

On how the brand got involved with the series, Mehta reveals: “The team contacted me in June 2022 after they had begun shooting Season 3. They said they discovered the brand on Instagram and thought my pieces would be a great fit for Lily’s character, Emily. I send some pieces across to Paris, unsure if anything would actually be featured.
But they were. A total of six pieces featured in Season 3, including a pair of ‘Anicia’ earrings for the iconic scene where Emily takes to a hot air balloon, which was glimpsed again in Season 4, and a custom ring designed for French actor Lucas Bravo, who plays handsome chef-turned-restauranteur Gabriel in the show. “Lucas is very vocal about efforts to save the environment and he felt Nue reflected his values. To my surprise, Lucas loved the ring so much he made it a part of his every day wardrobe. We named it together – since it was created for [his character] Gabriel, it became the Gabriel ring,” says Mehta, of the sleek signet ring design which has a lab-grown diamond set on the inside, so only its wearer can see it.

Since then the brand has worked with Emily in Paris on many character’s looks, with a total of 20 pieces scheduled to feature in the current series. This includes many jewels from its current collection, entitled ‘Bella’, and also four custom pieces created just for the show: three black gold half eternity bands for an outfit created as a tribute to the late designer Karl Lagerfeld, and a new signet ring made for Emily’s latest love interest, Marcello.
The best news for EIP fans? The pieces are available to buy now, including the Gabriel ring, which has actually become a part of Nue’s permanent collection. “After last season’s iconic looks, it’s an honour to receive the vote of confidence for our designs from both Marilyn [Fitoussi, the show’s costume designer] and Emily [Lily Collins],” says Mehta. With the second part of Season 4 expected to drop later this autumn, we should definitely expect more sparkly scenes to come…
