One of the UK’s most in-demand contemporary jewellers, Cece Fein Hughes, has designed a pair of sweet celebratory rings for Hollywood sisters Dakota and Elle Fanning.

In an Instagram post over the weekend, Hughes revealed the matching pair of engraved and enamelled rings “commissioned by Elle as a birthday gift to her big sister” Dakota, who turned 31 back in February.

The gold rings feature a motif of a white rabbit wearing a blue bow surrounded by a bed of pale pink roses, and are bordered by an engraved crescent moon adorned with diamonds. Each sister also has her name engraved on the front of their ring. The shoulders of each ring are similarly ornate, featuring a sweet enamelled image of the sisters creating a heart sign with their hands, and a winged version of Dakota’s first dog, a fluffy white pup called Lewellen who passed away in 2022, whose image is now the logo for their joint production company, Lewellen Pictures, which the pair launched in March this year.
According to Hughes, the symbols represent “femininity, sisterhood and above all SO much love.”

“We reached out to Elle in September last year while we were in LA and although she wasn’t in town at the time, she mentioned that she wanted to have something made for Dakota for her birthday in February. Elle loved the idea of making matching rings and sent us some inspiration for the design: she wanted to go for something super feminine on a statement sized signed ring and chose a bunny motif with the iconic Cece Jewellery ribbon,” explains Hughes. “We teamed that with the puppy design from their production company alongside a sweet design of the two sisters in a pastel colour palette to bring it all together!”

The reveal comes almost exactly a year since the jeweller crafted a trio of bespoke signet rings for A-list BFFs Gigi Hadid, Taylor Swift and Kendall Jenner. Like the Fanning sister’s rings, these one-of-a-kind custom jewels were each crafted in 18k gold and featured emblems that were special to each of the women.
Swift’s ring bore a hand-enamelled likeness of Swift’s cat, Benjamin Button, surrounded by two white diamond stars and framed by tiny pearls. The shoulders of her ring featured flaming enamelled hearts displaying Swift’s lucky numbers 13, and 87, which is her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s football jersey number. The inside of the ring was even engraved with ‘TTPD’, after the singer’s latest album, The Tortured Poet’s Department.
