If you see a good-looking gold chain, the likelihood is that it’s come from the mind of Laura Lombardi, the New-York-based jeweller who launched her eponymous jewellery range in 2010.

It’s no wonder: because it’s in the family. She grew up between New York and a small town in Tuscany, San Giovanni Valdarno, and her parents had a sales office on 45th Street of the former. It all began with a sample of gold chains her father had brought over from Italy in the 1980s. And as Laura began to experiment with them at the kitchen table, a career began to blossom early on.

Today, she draws on her childhood memories for reference and is inspired by fine arts, sculpture, mixed media as well as found objects. This is combined with a raw and industrial style that surrounds her in New York. She is interested in the present and past; and uses recycled brass alongside deadstock. Not only are the pieces covetable and cool but they are accessible too.
