Tom Cruise is transformed as Digger Rockwell. The Hollywood icon is barely recognisable beneath extensive facial prosthetics in the trailer for his upcoming film, Digger.
Directed by the Oscar winning Alejandro G. Inarritu, the wildly eccentric trailer for the film revealed a first look at Cruise’s new look, which transforms one of the most recognisable men in the world into an oil tycoon racing to prove he is the saviour of the Earth.
As the trailer – which seems to confirm the film is a dark, comedic political satire – Cruise is seen in bed with his cat, attempting to feed the feline while saying: “Just a little taste for daddy.”
In that snippet, Cruise can be seen wearing a Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time in pink gold, while the watch also makes appearances later in the trailer while the Mission: Impossible star is wearing a suit and cowboy hat.
A chunky watch which comes in at 71mm, there is nothing subtle about the Overseas Dual Time and it’s a piece worthy of a billionaire. The red hour hand on the green dial is a daring, bold touch and from the trailer, seems to perfectly fit Cruise’s latest character.
Digger is currently scheduled to be released on October 2 and co-stars Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Jesse Plemons and Emma D’Arcy.
Cruise was previously seen wearing Vacheron Constantin at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival where he opted for a Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin to complement his tuxedo.
On his most recent press tour – for Mission: Impossible: Final Reckoning – Cruise was spotted wearing a relatively rare Rolex Daytona.
Made of gold and stainless steel with an ice blue dial, the reference Cruise was wearing also featured a platinum case and bracelet alongside a brown Cerachrom bezel.
The chances of getting a watch like this at retail is a challenge thanks to the exceptionally long waiting list Rolex have for virtually all their models. Even on the secondary market, the watch is expected to fetch well over £50,000.
Earlier in the year, when Cruise took the final Mission: Impossible movie to the Cannes Film Festival, the Oscar nominee was seen wearing a Rolex Day-Date in 18 karat white gold with a fluted bezel, silver dial, baguette diamond hour markers, and the classic Presidential bracelet.
Rolex has been a favoured choice of Cruise since he first broke out in the 1980’s. He’s been spotted wearing Day-Date’s, Sky-Dweller’s an a GMT-Master II over the decades, though he seems to shy away from the more traditional gold bracelets and bezels.
Given flying is key to several of his film roles and has been a hobby of the enigmatic actor’s for decades, Cruise has also shown a fondness for pilot’s watches, specifically the Graham Chronofighter Diver, which measures a whopping 47mm on the 5’7″ tall star.
