Harry Kane is one of the most underrated watch collectors in football. While the talismanic England and Bayern Munich striker is a generally quiet presence on and off the pitch, the former Tottenham Hotspur star has one hell of a watch game.
And it’s on display again as England prepare for their first game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup against Croatia. Harry Kane has worn a Rolex Day-Date “Emoji Puzzle” in white gold to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. For a man who builds his watch game on understatement, that is the loudest thing he’s done in years. The question is – is Harry Kane making a quiet statement against FIFA after his Captain’s rainbow armband was banned from the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in 2022?
The ‘Puzzle watch’ is a very un-Rolex like Rolex. The puzzle dial was first unveiled back in 2023, its turquoise dial of interlinking jigsaw pieces is the antithesis of Rolex’s quiet approach to luxury, the small 36mm white gold case is one of the few things that’s not unusual about it. Where the day should sit instead a rotating disc spells out “Happy,” “Love” and “Hope” and a window cycling thirty-one emojis instead of a date. It’s a Day-Date that tells you neither. At this year’s Watches & Wonders 2026 in Geneva the puzzle watch was re-released to celebrate 100 years of the Rolex Oyster case.
Kane is one of the most underrated watch collectors in the game, he’s a quiet presence on and off the pitch whose wrist usually does its talking in Patek. So the Puzzle is a strange pick.
What’s most notable about the watch is its colourful dial which is unlike anything Rolex have produced before or since.

The closest Rolex have ever come to producing a novelty watch, it feels fitting that Kane has chosen to wear it out at the FIFA World Cup, given its positive messaging.
Here’s the part that no spec sheet will tell you. Kane doesn’t wear watches by accident, and we’ve seen this before. In Qatar, 2022, the Rainbow Daytona was on his wrist the same week FIFA pulled his armband. Kane was seen wearing a Rolex Daytona Rainbow in what was interpreted as an act of solidarity with the LGBTQ community after FIFA stopped him from wearing a rainbow armband on the pitch. The now discontinued watch features both sapphires and diamonds and is thought to be worth between £400,000 and £800,000 on the open market.
So a notoriously conservative football collector without visible tattoos turning up to a World Cup in the one Rolex that openly says “Happy, Love, Hope” is either the Captain saying something again without even saying a word or it’s the most literal piece of kit he’s ever worn. Either way, it isn’t the watch that wins it. But if England’s man is wearing optimism on his wrist, you’d rather that than the alternative.
While Kane has made a big show with Rolex at this World Cup, he is also known to be a big fan of Patek Philippe and has built a collection worth millions.
He is known to be a particularly enthusiastic fan of Patek’s Aquanaut model with the sporty watch being spotted on Kane’s wrist on several occasions in various colours including bright orange, khaki green and blue.
Kane also owns several of the Nautilus range, which must be one of the most popular watches in the world for footballers. They were all over the Arsenal title winning parade around London. While Arsenal winning the league is unlikely to have impressed the boyhood Tottenham fan, Kane is certainly a Nautilus lover, wearing a particularly rare one worth around half a million pounds to the premiere of the last James Bond film, No Time to Die, in 2021.
