Simon Pegg, in his new cover interview with Something About Rocks, has revealed that he dreams of DJing at Glastonbury Music Festival when it returns in 2027.
Pegg, best known for his roles in the Mission: Impossible franchise, J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek trilogy and Shaun of the Dead, has been moonlighting as a DJ in recent years, performing at a number of festivals across the UK.
Despite being a relative newcomer to the art form, only taking it up in 2022 after being spotted by Blur’s Alex James and DJ Fatboy Slim, Pegg has said he would love to play Glastonbury and that he has “spoken to [festival organiser] Emily Eavis about what’s possible”.
He added: “I feel like an imposter…but I work hard at it, I spend a lot of time finding the tracks like I like and figuring out how to play them together and make new tracks. It’s like a kind of science project!”
Speaking about where his love of DJ-ing came from, he added: “I’ve always been quite musical because my dad was a musician and I grew up around music too.” On being asked whether or not he ever considered it as a career, he added: “I never had the patience, probably due to my undiagnosed ADHD,” he says, revealing that a potential neurodivergence “is becoming more of a conversation” of late. “It would answer a lot of questions,” he continued.
He went on to say he is capable of “hyper-focussing” and added that when he sets his mind on something like learning to DJ, he understands it quickly.
Pegg recently appeared at Fatboy Slim’s Big Beach Boutique in Brighton after performing at the music legend’s All Back to Minehead event last year: “Unbeknownst to me, this was a sort of audition in a way, to play at the Big Beach Boutique in Brighton this summer.”
Pegg added: “I just want to keep making interesting stuff, stuff that challenges me.”
In other news, the Spaced star has also developed a reputation for wearing eclectic vintage jewellery at public events of late.
At the Mission: Impossible: The Final Reckoning global press tour across 2025, Pegg wore a number of pieces from London jewellery store Piccadilly Vaults including an Victorian old-cut diamond star brooch, an enamel and diamond-cut brooch and pendant as well as a Cartier ‘Torte’ in 18ct yellow gold from the early 2000s.
At the London premiere of the action blockbuster, Pegg was spotted wearing jewellery from Giovanni Raspini, including some stand-out rings alongside more chic vintage jewellery chosen from Piccadilly Vaults.
Pegg wore a diamond floral stick pin in white gold, with an estimated diamond weight of 0.45cts alongside a diamond lizard stick pin in 18 karat yellow gold, which had an estimated total diamond weight of 1.05 carats.
He also teamed this up with an Art Deco diamond and onyx stick pin, estimated total diamond weight of 0.84 carats and a unique 1930s diamond and ruby bar brooch, estimated total diamond weight of 2.10 carats.
In our cover interview, the actor also opened up about his favourite jewellery to wear, and how he likes being bold with his style.
“As a man, you hear the word ‘brooch’ and you think, ‘Oh that’s something my grandma would wear,’” he joked with us. “But you can get really cool, elegant brooches which are masculine and are a statement.” He says he enjoys taking more risks with his style these days. “Sometimes ostentatious is fun. If you feel you like it, but you’re worried what other people will think, screw them. Put it on!”
He continued: “It’s always nice to dress up. Sometimes me and my stylist pick something kind of crazy, and I like that. It’s fun.” The day before his cover shoot with us, Pegg went to a special BFI fellowship dinner for one of his heroes, Guillermo del Toro, and used that as an occasion to bedeck himself. “I wore these little jewelled skulls on my lapel because it was Guillermo, and he’s obsessed with skeletons,” he says. “Last year in Paris, I wore this gold, jewel-encrusted revolver around my neck – it was a fun little nod to Mission Impossible. You can say a lot with jewellery.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Pegg opened up about 20 years of Mission: Impossible and how it might not be the end of the franchise just yet.
