Looking suitably festive in a deep evergreen outfit, The Princess of Wales attended the annual Royal Family’s Christmas Day Church service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham. As ever, it was a day for family and for reflection, which meant a respectful lack of ostentatious jewellery – but jewellery lovers were still quick to spot a sparkly new addition to the Princess’s collection.

In her ears, Kate wore a pair of earrings by one of her favourite British designers, Robinson Pelham. The ‘Daystar Diamond’ earrings, which cost £5,995, feature a pair of shield-shaped blue topaz and crescent-shaped topaz (for a total of roughly 10 carats), framed in 14k yellow gold and ringed with white diamonds, their claw settings designed to resemble stars. Unsurprisingly, the earrings have currently sold out on the brand’s website.

The Princess has worn several beautiful pieces by the same British jewellers in the past, most notably a pair of stylised oak leaf and acorn shaped diamond earrings for her wedding to Prince William in 2011, which were a gift from her parents. She also wore a pair of Robinson Pelham starry stud earrings for the premiere of Top Gun Maverick in 2022.

As well as being found in a flattering shade of pale blue, topaz is traditionally associated with the powers of healing, motivation, strength and loyalty. The birthstone for the month of November, it’s also historically thought to symbolise warmth and love, and to protect its wearer from harm. So, while not her birthstone, these earrings may still hold a beautiful hidden meaning for the Princess, who has faced her own health problems in this year and is undoubtedly looking forward to a brighter and better 2025.
