Cleverly named by their weight in grams are the designs and pieces from the menswear jewellery brand Le Gramme (though one could really argue unisex), which was co-founded by Erwan Le Louër in 2013. Having studied Industrial Design at Esdi School of Design and graduating in 2008, Le Louër went on to be in charge of the Maison Margiela jewellery license until 2011. Le Gramme became the next project for the designer-entrepreneur.
The idea behind it was designs that drew strength from their minimal forms to create restrained aesthetics, with pieces named after their metric weight. Each collection, which is mostly rings and bracelets, is created with French and German workshops, engraved with a unique batch number. Yellow and red gold are used, and come in either brushed or polished finishes.
Notably, it’s not just the jewellery that is commanding; it’s the store interiors also, which bring a whole new dimension to what a jewellery boutique can be.
