He’s as renowned for his love of luxury watches as he is for his movie prowess. Now, Mark Wahlberg has revealed another perks of being a mega star when he revealed on social media that he’s been one of the first to get his hands on Patek Philippe’s new Cubitus watch, which only launched last week.
The Arthur Is King and Transformers actor took to Instagram to show off his health and wellness regime, stepping into at an infrared Clear Light Sauna, but not before taking off his brand new Cubitus and sending keen watch-spotters wild.

“They say this is the key to longevity, fighting off disease and everything…twenty minutes a day, four days a week…you know what, I don’t really have twenty minutes a day, that’s a big, big challenge. Oh, you can’t wear the Cubitus in there, no, no, no, no, no…” he says, handing his new Patek Philippe to the person holding the camera. The sporty model looks to be Ref. 5821/1A in stainless steel with a green dial.

Only launched on the 17th October, the new 45mm Cubitus is Patek Philippe’s first new watch collection launched in a quarter of a century. The square-dialled timepiece is intended to be the sportier sibling to the much-lauded Nautilus, and rumours about its debut swirled after an advertising image of the watch was accidentally leaked in Fortune magazine, days ahead of the hotly-anticipated launch of the piece in Munich.

Wahlberg is a known Patek Philippe aficionado, having already got his hands on a denim-strapped World Time Date to wear to the premiere of his Netflix film, The Union, back in August. His extensive collection of timepieces also includes other rare Pateks, including a Nautilus with a Tiffany-coloured dial (another example of which sold for US$6.5 million at auction), a Nautilus Flyback Chronograph 5980, and white gold Nautilus completely iced in pavé diamonds. He’s also been spotted in a host of fabulous Rolexes, including colourful, gem-set versions.
The only question is, where might the newest Patek pop up next? We’re waiting to see whose else’s wrist gets the Cubitus treatment.
