Since Pep Guardiola departed the Premier League after a decade at the helm of Manchester City, he’s not just left a void at the tactics board but in the watch department. Doing his best to hold up the watch game of the league’s managers is his brief cross-city rival and fellow former midfield stalwart, Michael Carrick.
Ever since he replaced Ruben Amorim in the Old Trafford dugout this winter on an interim and later permanent basis, Carrick has been flaunting off his immaculate watch collection which eschews the footballer checklist of Royal Oak and Nautilus in favour of his own taste.
While he made an undoubted impact on United last season, Carrick’s team have had a faltering start to the 2026-2027 campaign, lying in 12th with one win from five games, meaning the once formidable Red Devils have had their worst start to a season for a decade.
With the team flailing in mid-table, it stands that the manager’s watch game is significantly better than the results on the pitch and we’ve taken an in-depth look at his collection below.
Richard Mille RM 011
Limited to just 50 pieces, the RM 011 features a stopclock mechanism that would actually make it practical for a manager on the sidelines, Carrick has been seen wearing the Richard Mille multiple times on the touchline since returning to Old Trafford last season. It was also on his wrist when he collected a Manager of the Month award for his efforts while interim boss. Valued at more than £250,000, it’s safe to say it’s Carrick’s favourite watch since he took over his former club with its lightweight design making it perfect for marching around the dugout and gesticulating to players.
Girard-Perregaux Laureato

Probably the most interesting watch seen on Carrick’s wrist, this is a vintage Girard-Perregaux Laureato from 1998 and features a skeletonised dial displaying the three 18 karat rose gold bridges. Picked up recently by the former midfielder, Carrick gave it a grand day out to Wimbledon this summer. Given the three bridges design originates in 1867, the watch also serves as a monument to history and innovation with the original DNA of the model still preserved in newer pieces released today. It’s also emblematic of Carrick’s personal approach to watch collecting.
Rolex Daytona Shades of Blue Challenge
Ironically this sky blue watch was worn when United triumphed over Manchester City last season and is a special piece customised by Artisans De Genève. They reimagine the classic Daytona with a lot of blue – sky blue subdials imbued onto the midnight blue dial with all of the custom features handfinished to the highest standard. A completely custom piece, you cannot just walk into a boutique and buy one of these, making it that little bit more special. It’s not known how Carrick came to own his but they’re worth around £50,000 on the secondary market.
