The 2026 Oscars red carpet showcased a variety of spectacular jewels, so we picked out five of the biggest trends of the evening. Read more about them below.

It turns out, the perfect accompaniment for a golden statuette (or even just for being in the running for one) is diamonds. It goes without saying that a red carpet is the perfect place to show off incredible jewellery (just ask Bvlgari, who even used the occasion to secretly launch its latest high jewellery collection), and the 2026 Oscars walk up was certainly no exception.
Amid all the spectacle and the splendour, several distinct trends revealed themselves to keen-eyed jewellery lovers last night. Here are the five of the biggest winners.
Independent Designers
When Rose Byrne posed by the Oscars step-and-repeat in Taffin jewels by James de Givenchy, it captured the attention (and hearts) of jewellery editors around the world. Founded in 1996, the New York-based jeweller has become renowned for artistic jewels that are unlike anything else.
These are jewels of the ‘if you know, you know’ variety, crafted by to test the boundaries of how rare and precious gemstones can be mounted. They are made in limited, if not singular, numbers and never really loaned for red carpet events. Set with an extraordinary cognac diamond and chocolate-hued enamel, Byrne’s golden torque whispered grace, elegance and daring refinement, and spoke volumes about her personal style.
The same goes for Adrien Brody’s architectural brooch by Elsa Jin, model Vittoria Ceretti’s diamond-set DYNE ear cuff, KPop Demon Hunter co-director Chris Applehans’ custom ‘Derpy Tiger’ pin by Ten Thousand Things, and Zendaya’s botanical-inspired jewels by Taiwanese high jewellery artist, Cindy Chao, who has made her name with technically complex pieces that are now showcased in museums around the world.
On the red carpet, these stand-apart jewels telegraph that their wearer appreciates the rare craftsmanship and storytelling that lies behind incredible design – much like the movies they have gathered to celebrate.
Men in Brooches
It’s been a rolling trend for several seasons now, but the 2026 Oscars showed that we’ve reached peak lapel pin. Countless stars jazzed up their jackets and – in the case of Best Actor winner, Michael B Jordan, even the back of their collars – with interesting brooches and we loved every single look.
From Kieran Culkin’s artistic gold sweep by Hong Kong-based designer, Sauvereign, to Leonardo DiCaprio’s bejewelled bee by Boucheron, via Shaboozey’s antique diamond pins and Damson Idris in a brooch of his own design, these glittering adornments helped the stars to make more of a statement with their sober, tailored outfits. Long may it last.
Vintage Pieces
Collecting her award for Best Costume Design, Frankenstein‘s Kate Hawley showcased an eye-catching trio of archival jewels created by the legendary Jean Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co. (Hawley collaborated very closely with the jewellery house on the antique jewels seen in the film), and helped put the spotlight back onto vintage jewels with lashings of personality.
The same could be said for Elle Fanning’s transformable Cartier necklace, created by the Parisian Maison in 1903, Usher’s 1960’s cocktail ring curated by Briony Raymond, and Felicity Jones’ platinum and diamond adornments that dated from the 1920s.
In a room where everyone is adorned in impressive (usually diamond) jewellery, opting for rarefied vintage pieces certainly allows you stand to apart, and proves yet again that beautifully designed jewels – like the very best films – really are timeless.
Coloured Diamonds
All manner of vibrant diamonds – from blue to green via palest yellow and rich cognac – dazzled on the red carpet at the 2026 Oscars.
Chase Infiniti, Rose Byrne, Gwneth Paltrow and Anne Hathaway were just a few of the stars that used warm, ‘desert’ hued diamonds to enhance their outfits this season, all pieces that seemed to glow with a light all of their own.
Meanwhile, F1 star Damson Idris’s own bespoke brooch featured a large, marquise-cut blue diamond, and Song Sung Blue actress Kate Hudson opted for a show-stopping necklace by Italian maker Garatti, set with super rare Fancy green diamond weighing 16 carats.
Collar Necklaces
From Rose Byrne’s previously mentioned torque, to Kristen Wiig’s stunning Boucheron collier with three shades of gold, Teyana Taylor’s Tiffany & Co. ‘Shooting Star’ necklace and Arden Cho’s diamond winged choker, shorter necklaces were clearly the jewels to be seen in this season.
And that’s their whole point. Resting neatly just above or on the collar bones, these eye-catching pieces won’t interfere with even the fussiest of necklines, and they shift to focus upwards towards the face – a helpful counterpoint to dramatic or heavy-bottomed red carpet gowns.
What’s more, they reflect a flattering light back onto your complexion – ideal when flashbulbs are popping at you from every direction.
