A brand ambassador for around a year, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, is front and centre of Hublot’s new campaign for their Big Bang Reloaded.
First unveiled this Spring in Geneva, the Big Bang has long been Hublot’s most iconic model and this fresh upgrade rejuvenates the watch from the inside out, while taking design cues from the Unico.
The new designs feature a typically chunky 44mm case in five different colourways and materials – titanium ceramic, all black, blue ceramic, dark green ceramic and magic gold.
The watch is also powered by the HUB1280 UNICO caliber, which features 354 individual components and the skeleton dial showcases the movement in all its glory.
The campaign video showcases Mahomes wearing each of the watches with perhaps the most eyecatching being the magic gold which is made from 18 karat gold and has a titanium bezel.
The campaign also centres on Mahomes’ competitive edge with the tagline: “Every second counts when you step onto the field. Driven by precision, purpose, and the pursuit of what’s next.”
The Big Bang Reloaded is available now with prices ranging from £18,000 for the titanium ceramic version all the way up to £34,900 for the gold reference.
In more unorthodox Hublot news, they recently teamed with artist, Jeff Koons, to turn his iconic balloon dog designs into a watch.
Koons, who primarily makes balloon dogs sculpted from stainless steel, has twice broken the world record for a sale by a living artist with Balloon Dog (Orange) selling for $58 million in 2013 and his Rabbit piece fetching $91 million on the auction block in 2019.
There are two pieces in the limited edition collection: the Classic Fusion Balloon Dog by Jeff Koons and the MP‑14 Origin by Jeff Koons Sapphire Titanium.
The Classic Fusion Balloon Dog refashions Koons’ most famous design onto Hublot’s sporty design, creating something totally unique. Apart from the strap, the whole watch has been crafted out of convex, which has been “puffed” up using 5-axis CNC milling.
The watch is also awash with Koons-style flourishes such as a small balloon dog on the seconds hand and a rubber dog tail on the dial.
The watch is being presented in three colours – mirror-polished stainless steel, red anodized aluminum, and blue anodized aluminum – with only 200 available of each, and they will be available at retail for $25,100.
The MP-14 Origin is a far more extreme and luxurious design with a 44mm octagonal case featuring 202 baguette diamonds and blue sapphires around a central large orb. Inspired by Koons’ Gazing Ball, timepiece features Hublot’s first automatic central tourbillon and eschews standard hands and markers. Instead, the watch utilises floating red and grey cubes to signal the time.
The MP-14 Origin is being released in incredibly strict numbers with only 30 being made available to the public with the watch retailing for $488,000.
To celebrate the launch of the watches, Hublot hosted an event in New York attended by numerous friends of the brand including Pamela Anderson and Tinashe as well as rappers Future and Gunna.
