To celebrate International Womens Day this weekend, the original ‘Bad Gal’ Rihanna took to Instagram to share a couple of never-before-seen images from the birth of each of her two sons.
“By far the most powerful thing I’ve ever done as a woman…my little miracles! #InternationalWomensDay” the singer posted, along with sweet photographs of her children with A$AP Rocky, RZA and Riot Rose, each taken in the delivery room just after they had been born.

In typical RiRi fashion she also added, “And yes I gave birth in pearls and sunglasses…don’t ask, a lot was happening” to explain the layers of gleaming gold and pearl necklaces she can be seen wearing in the photograph with RZA, who was born in 2022, and the pair of pale pink Celine sunglasses she wears in the image with Riot Rose, who arrived in 2023.
The images instantly prompted a flurry of positive comments from other women, including one fan who wrote, “Yes to the giving birth in pearls Queen Mother”.

Looking closer at her chosen jewels, Rihanna had opted (whether deliberately or not) to wear pieces from independent female-owned jewellery brands, offering each a perfectly-timed boost in honour of #IWD. Her pearls and zodiac medallion necklace were from New York-based Briony Raymond (Riri picked a diamond-set Pisces medallion, which is her own birth sign), and her gold bead foundation necklace was by California-based Harwell Godfrey.
