Spider-Man: Brand New Day had a historic opening weekend at the box-office, pulling in $927 million for the second biggest takings of all time, behind Avengers: Endgame.

That means an awful lot of people raced to the cinema to see Peter Parker and co protect New York from all sorts of villainy. And they all have one question on their lips: what watch is Frank Castle aka The Punisher wearing throughout the film?
Staying true to The Punisher’s character and background as a hardened military veteran, the character is wearing a Sangin Neptune. No Swiss horology here, Sangin were founded by a former US Marine Raider and named after an area in Afghanistan that was a particular hotpoint during the war.
The Neptune is specifically the company’s take on the traditional diver’s watch and has been designed to withstand the circumstances of subsurface operations, while also looking at home if you’re wearing a suit.
One of the most interesting things about the watch is the crown which is positioned at 8 o’clock rather than the traditional 3 to make it easier to use during combat operations.
The watch also features a luminous display for maximum visibility in low light.
The Sangin Neptune is available from the brand’s website for $1,599.
While Jon Bernthal’s watch on-screen is creating the conversation, it’s his co-star Tom Holland off-screen that is all about timepieces.
The British actor has built up quite an arsenal of watches over the years and is one of the more underrated watch guys on the A-list red carpet.
He’s acquired his fair share of Rolex’s but his favourite appears to be a Cosmograph Daytona with an ice blue dial. Holland even had diamonds added to the watch after he bought it and it has been seen on his wrist at events ranging from centre court at Wimbledon to global press events for Spider-Man. Given this is a watch that will set you back around £70,000 without those aftermarket customisations, it’s good to see Holland gets some use out of it.
Holland is also a fan of Patek Philippe and their Aquanaut and has been seen wearing various models. Probably the most eye-catching is an anniversary model they released a few years back with a blue rubber strap on a white gold case. Despite being a whopping 42mm, the small in stature Holland rocks the piece.
The Odyssey actor has also shown a penchant for Piaget. He famously gifted now-wife Zendaya a gold and diamond necklace from the brand for Valentine’s Day in 2019 while also picking Piaget for a big look at the 2018 Academy Awards, opting their famously ultra-thin Altiplano Skeleton, which costs around $60,000.
