SPKTRL, a luxury technology brand founded by Katia de Lasteyrie – a former longstanding LVMH talent – has officially launched its debut product, a diamond ring that communicates essential digital messages silently, without screens, noise, or disruption.
Dubbed the light ring, the piece of jewellery aims to advance the idea of “quiet tech”- an elegant and non-intrusive form of technology designed to blend seamlessly into the background. The ring uses colour as a way to communicate with the wearer. The colours can be completely personalised with the insights they receive through a minimalist app.

According to a press release, “The perfectly colourless diamond may light up a soft blue to indicate a message from a loved one, while a vibrant magenta might indicate a critical work update. Almost all other notifications and calls will be ignored so that users can batch-process them when they decide.
“Featuring a screenless design, these messages are transmitted through a CVD lab-grown diamond, selected for both its beauty and its symbolism: a material created with precision by human ingenuity, not chance. Optically and structurally identical to mined ones, these diamonds are increasingly used in deep tech fields such as quantum computing.”

Speaking about the ring in an interview with Women’s Wear Daily, de Lasteyrie shared that unlike other smart jewellery which focuses more on “the quantifiable self and tracks you,” SPKTRL will be a “sort of meta-technology, an additional layer that empowers you to have better control of your time, of where your attention goes.”
SPKTRL will offer an alternative where phones can be kept away while their owners won’t miss the few key calls and messages that are essential to them. While both screen time and fragmented focus are growing concerns, SPKTRL offers a refined solution to regain control over our digital habits.

Speaking about the brand in a press release, de Lasteyrie shared that “SPKTRL appeals to a new art de vivre: one where attention is curated, not consumed. Our technology isn’t designed to replace phones or make you faster, but to give you back control. The stone is the interface, and the colour is the language. Personalised to each user, our ring communicates important messages in a novel way that is truly mindful of their time and attention.”
According to Women’s Wear Daily, the light ring diamond will be “set in a gold basket, itself placed on a titanium shank, a combination that plays off the object’s expected role as a bridge between the technological and jewellery spheres.”
Preorders for the light ring will open in the third quarter of 2025 on Spktrl’s website, with jewels expected to be delivered in mid-2026.
