Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer has partnered with NASCAR’s Indy 500 for over 20 years and is the official timekeeper of the historic race. Read all about their thirteenth collaboration below.
The all-new TAG Heuer Formula 1 Sonograph x Indy 500 watch honours the famous annual automobile race, known as ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing’ by its fans. Only 1,100 pieces will be made available worldwide by the Swiss watch giant.
The watch is 38mm in size for wearability and versatility, while the dial and caseback both prominently feature the Indy 500 logo. On its reverse, a prominent ‘bricks’ pattern is a nod to legendary ‘Yard of Bricks’ – the 36-inch strip of bricks that extends entirely across the Indianapolis Motor Speedway track and is one of the most iconic start/finish lines in American motor racing .

The contrast of the black dial and brown minuterie makes for strong character, while another of the watch’s most noteworthy elements is its biodirectional, polylight bezel which introduces movement to the Formula 1 design while still remaining functional.
The hands, including the much-vaunted Mercedes hour hand, preserves clarity while the boldness of the hour numbers make it perfect for everyday use.
This collaboration also makes use of the Solargraph movement and uses natural and artificial light as an energy source. The feature debuted in TAG Heuer’s popular revamp of its iconic F1 watch model, which was unveiled at the Watches & Wonders industry fair in 2025. According to TAG Heuer, just one minute of sunlight powers the watch for an entire day.
The release also marks the latest expansion of TAG’s Formula 1 range – most recently seen on the wrist of TAG Heuer ambassador (and noted racing enthusiast) Patrick Dempsey at the Miami Grand Prix – and marks the first time two titans of motorsport are celebrated on the same watch, reflecting the contemporary popularity of racing and its growing diverse audience.
The Formula 1 x Indy 500 will be available in shops for £1,900 from 11 May.
Earlier this year, TAG Heuer also unveiled a digital watch that adapts to every Formula 1 grand prix.
The Connected Calibre E5 45mm showcases a brushed and sandblasted Grade 2 titanium case, with a sleek, black DLC coating. The phases of a Grand Prix weekend are displayed along the curved touchscreen bezel.
It also has integrated pushers with black DLC and red lacquer accents, and a black rubber and DLC steel crown which TAG Heuer describes as ‘a subtle racing touch.’ A PPG sensor and the red F1 logo on the case-back ‘celebrate the collaboration and reinforce timepiece’s high-octane identity,’ according to the watchmaker.
The watch also boasts a digital time display underneath an F1 track outline, which changes to reflect each of the 24 races on the calendar.
