The spookiest time of the year is upon us. With Halloween set to be the centre of attention this weekend, it’s only right that we look at some spooky inspired watches.
And it’s not just accessible brands making novelty pieces that you wear on Halloween night and never again that are getting in on the act. Here, we have many millions of pounds worth of high class horology with Halloween motifts serving as design inspiration for brands as varied as Richard Mille, Louis Vuitton and Chopard.
Check out the best watches you can wear for a night of trick or treating below.
Richard Mille RM 052 Skull Tourbillon
Surely one of Richard Mille’s most extraordinary pieces, the skull that sits in the middle of the dial is not just decoration but also serves as the cage for the tourbillon while the pirate flag themed bridges connect the movement to the case. Fully fitting the brief for Halloween, only 21 were ever made and can go for over £1 million on the open market.
Chopard L.U.C Full Strike Día de los Muertos Edition 13
Seemingly, nothing says Halloween more in the world of horology than a good skull and this completely one-off Day of the Dead inspired piece from Chopard is sure to get anybody at a spooky party talking. Only revealed this week, the piece builds on their past Day of the Dead watches to create something truly remarkable.
Jacob & Co. Skull Double Tourbillon
A watch worthy of Blackbeard himself, this Jacob & Co. piece sports the Jolly Roger in handfinished rose gold while the black background is made from onyx. Also viewable on the dial are not one but two triple-axis flying tourbillons.
Louis Vuitton Tambour Carpe Diem
Not the kind of design you would typically expect from Louis Vuitton’s watch house but this Carpe Diem take on the Tambour is opulently gothic. The dial sees a snake slithering through the eye of a skull for a breathtakingly vivid design that certainly fits the Halloween assignment. Given it costs half a million, don’t drop it into a trick or treat bucket.
Swatch Aye Carumboo
On the more accessible end of the spectrum comes Swatch’s collaboration with The Simpsons which has yielded a number of successful launches often tied around themes. The best of the Halloween bunch is the Aye Carumboo, which features the electrocuted skeleton of Bart against an all black dial, case and strap.
Peanuts x Timex Weekender Pumpkin Dial
Peanuts is synonymous with Halloween so its only right that their ongoing collaboration with Timex has yielded some spooky themed watches. This lovely designed dial features Snoopy and Woodstock popping out of a pumpkin for a watch that is sure to be a hit this spooky season. The whole of the Peanuts gang are also featured on the caseback.
Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Spectre Edition
A watch that pays tribute to the mortal enemy of James Bond has to be a good fit for Halloween. Especially when it features the ominous Octopus logo of Spectre on the rotor, meaning it actually spins. If you want to be a real villain this Halloween, then this is the watch for you.
