It was a glittering night of celebration at the NAACP Image Awards 2024, which honoured outstanding performances by Black creatives in the worlds of performing arts and literature. And, as you’d expect, the ceremony had some fabulous red carpet jewellery moments: Oprah swept onto the scene in a beaded Prada gown and sizeable jewels by Fred Leighton and Kwiat Diamonds, ballerina Misty Copeland continued the trend for doubled-up diamond necklaces in David Yurman pieces, and The Colour Purple star, Danielle Brooks, matched her armfuls of gleaming gold bangles to a gold wire ornament around her ponytail.

But it was renowned jewellery lover, Usher, who simply stole the show in an array of diamond jewels by Chopard. The singer-songwriter, who scooped the Entertainer of the Year award and the President’s Award at the ceremony, swapped his usual solitude diamond stud earrings for Chopard’s Precious Lace Mini Frou-Frou earrings. Around his neck, he opted for a triple layer of the Maison’s white diamond necklaces, whilst Chopard’s diamond-set Alpine Eagle timepiece sparkled on his left wrist. Crafted in ethically-sourced 18k white gold, the 41mm watch is entirely covered in over 10 carats of pave diamonds, in homage to “the snowy Alpine peaks”.

Certainly, Usher’s jewellery box is no stranger to a bit of serious bling. Most recently, he performed at the 2024 Super Bowl halftime show wearing diamond jewels worth a reported US$400,000, including a phoenix brooch by Dolce & Gabbana, a diamond-set “U” pendant by Benny Da Jeweller and a glistening pearl and diamond cocktail ring by his long-time collaborator, Jacquie Aiche.
