Wimbledon has only been serving up aces, volleys and match points for a few days but already big statements have been made. Almost the entirety of the British contingent have been knocked out, a returning Serena Williams fell in the first round and Novak Djokovic seeks to extend his record for most men’s Grand Slam titles with one last hurrah on Centre Court.
And then there’s the watches. Wimbledon is always watch heaven and this year is shaping up to be no different as both the celebrities in the Royal Box and players on the court bring out the big guns – all while keeping within Wimbledon’s strict dress code which mandates suits off the court and all white on it.
With Wimbledon just starting to heat up, here are the best watches we have spotted at the tournament so far.
Serena Williams – Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore

Things did not go well for Serena on her return to Wimbledon, crashing out in the first round to Maya Joint, but at least she went home looking good. The tennis legend was wearing a Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore in bright pink with a bezel boasting 32 brilliant cut diamonds totalling just over one karat while the movement is on full display through the caseback. The watch symbolises Williams at her best: irrepressible, bold and full of flair.
David Beckham – Tudor Black Bay 58

An ambassador for Tudor for nearly a decade, Beckham can always be relied on to make a show at Wimbledon as he made the traditional pilgrimage alongside his mum to Centre Court to watch the action. On his wrist was the brand new Black Bay 58, which is pretty much what people expect from the model these days with a small but significant alteration. Tudor have slimmed down the size of the watch to 39mm making it sportier, easier to wear and more versatile for everyday use.
Romeo Beckham – Patek Philippe Nautilus

Like father, like son. Romeo has inherited his dad’s penchant for fine timepieces as well as Wimbledon, making the trip with his girlfriend. While his dad is tied to Tudor, Romeo can wear whatever he pleases and went for the super popular Patek Philippe Nautilus with his edition measuring a dainty 35mm, a size traditionally associated with women’s watches. Made out of 18 karat rose gold, it’s the silver wave pattern on the dial that’s most alluring.
Esteban Ocon – Bianchet Tonneau Ultrafino Carbon

The Formula One star ventured to Wimbledon ahead of this weekend’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone and brought with him the ultra lightweight Bianchet Tonneau Ultrafino Carbon. Made out of high-density carbon, the watch only weights a total of 62 grams which suits Ocon in the every pound counts world of motor racing. The watch also features an open caseback, which shows off the automatic skeleton movement. Also fitting for a Formula One driver, the watch can withstand pressures up to 5000 G.
Alexander Ludwig – Frédérique Constant Carrée

A personal favourite from Wimbeldon so far, the Hunger Games star brought the affordable class with this Frédérique Constant Carrée, which originally retailed for around £1,000 before being discontinued. It has the profile and the elegance of a watch that costs many times more and while the gold-plated case is reflected in the price, the piece looks like a mid-century vintage item and it also has a pretty good Swiss-inspired automatic movement inside.
