Alright everyone, gird your loins! Production has officially begun on ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’, the eagerly anticipated sequel to 2006’s smash hit film. Reprising her role as Andy Sachs, Anne Hathaway was spotted filming out and about in New York, wearing layered up necklaces by some of the US’s coolest contemporary jewellers.
Brandishing a ‘Runway’ dress bag and dashing across a busy street (does this mean Andy is back at the fashion magazine?), Hathaway was snapped wearing a colourful embroidered maxi-dress by Gabriela Hearst, a bucket hat and a pale blue (but not cerulean) Fendi Basket Forty8 tote bag, which is crafted from recycled plastic.
Eagle-eyed jewellery lovers will be happy to see that the current trend for layered necklaces also seems to be going strong, as Hathaway wore a selection of pieces by contemporary jewellers Marlo Laz and Jemma Wynne – two of the industry’s chicest names-to-know. The star paired Jemma Wynne’s Forme Diamond Toggle Necklace in 18k yellow gold alongside Marlo Laz’s Squash Blossom Bead Choker – a piece inspired by the beauty of the deserts of the American Southwest – contrasting these with a third necklace made with pearls.
Hathaway also teased another look from the new film on Instagram, this time a vintage pinstriped suit by Jean Paul Gaultier, which she accessorised with the same jewels. “Andy Sachs 2025,” she noted in the caption.
The star confirmed she was in line to revive Andy Sachs back in 2024, with Disney announcing that the sequel to ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ is set for release in May 2026 – exactly 20 years since the well-loved original film debuted.
In addition to Hathaway, Meryl Street, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci have all confirmed their return in ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’, along with new additions Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J Novak, Simone Ashley and Pauline Chalamet.
Judging by the frenzy of Internet excitement seen since the new film commenced production, it seems TDWP fans have only one message for the film’s cast and crew: “By all means, move at a glacial pace. You know how that thrills us.”
