Francesca Villa has launched her latest collection titled ‘Fantasia’, comrpised of vibrant 3D versions of her previous jewellery collection ‘Close Encounters’.
The new collection sees the six characters from the ‘Close Encounters’ collection – A crab. mermaid, seahorse, ladybug, whale and puffer fish – transform from reverse intaglio crystals into 3D versions created from titanium, 18-karat yellow gold, enamel, and gemstones including sapphires, tsavorites, emeralds, rubies, iolites, and diamonds.
Speaking of the collection, Villa shared: “It is our ode to whimsy, fun, and fantasy. ‘Fantasia’ is made to accompany you to a new world,” (via National Jeweler).
According to a press release, bringing the six characters to life in 3D was a technically demanding feat for Villa and her atelier team in Valenza, Italy. They made sure that attention was paid to make sure that each character was depicted faithfully to its original depiction.
The pendents – which were inspired by the rich colours and decorations of traditional Mexican nichos—folk art frames in the style of a shadow box – create a space for the characters to call home.
‘Fantaisa’ features 25 pieces comprised of rings, earrings and more. Prices for the pieces range from $2,140 to $14,300.
In other news, British jeweller Hannah Martin and Coldplay bassist Guy Berryman‘s jewellery collection ‘A Vanitas Stoned’ will be exhibited at Sotheby’s London later this month.
