Cristiano Ronaldo has married his longtime girlfriend, Georgina Rodriguez in an intimate ceremony in Portugal surrounded by their five children.
The two, who met in a Gucci shop in 2017, have been together for almost a decade and announced their engagement last year.
Ronaldo announced on his Instagram to his 678 million followers that they had tied the knot in private, posting only the caption “C [love heart emoji] G” alongside their hands which showed off gold rings.
No further details are known about the classical minimalist wedding bands but they are a far cry from the ring Ronaldo proposed to Rodriguez with.
When popping the big question, Ronaldo did so with an enormous oval diamond ring estimated to be at least 22 carats and possibly up to 30 with the piece expected to be worth several million pounds because of the flawless nature of the diamond in a platinum setting.
While Ronaldo made a big splash with his engagement ring, he is best known for his watch game. Back in 2022, the footballing icon partnered with Jacob & Co. for his own range of watches and he has been a fan of the brand for more than 20 years.
As well as a take on Jacob & Co.’s Epic model, Ronaldo designed the Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon CR7 Edition which is a near mirror of the supercar also owned by the footballer. The watch features a number of unique details including an engine block which animates, 16 sapphire encrusted pistons and a staggering array of gems including 232 baguette cut white diamonds and 109 black sapphires that total 21 carats. In true Ronaldo style, it also features his CR7 signature logo in the centre of the dial. Anybody looking to purchase one will also have to cough up seven figures.
Ronaldo also wore a Jacob & Co. when announcing his controversial move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr. The former Manchester United footballer wore a Caviar Flying Tourbillon Tsavorites with 388 green baguette-cut tsavorites to match the colours of Saudi Arabia. It’s also a watch that can sell for up to $1 million.
More conventionally, Ronaldo has an enormous collection of Rolex’s. One of the most interesting pieces he’s worn is the Yacht-Master II Ref. 116688 back in his Juventus days. A large 44mm, the watch has unusual presence for the generally subtler Rolex with a bright blue bezel and a nautical themed dial.
Ronaldo, as you would expect, also owns the most expensive watch Rolex ever put on the market – the GMT-Master II Ref. 116769TBR. Appropriately nicknamed Ice, the watch is made out of 18 carat white gold and features another 30 carats in diamonds all over the bracelet, bezel and dial. If bought when first put on the market, one could have been obtained for just less than £500,000 but on the second hand market, look to cough up around a third more.
