Coppola was reunited with her Priscilla lead actor Jacob Elordi to shoot the Australian actor’s debut as a Cartier ambassador in an intimate and tender shoot across New York.
Whilst any new collection brings excitement, this project felt different. The shoot followed Elordi in an exploration of NYC in an emotional, bold and original encounter between the creative world of Sofia Coppola and the references that inspired the LOVE bracelet that launched nearly 60 years ago. Created by Italian jewellery designer Aldo Cipullo, also famous for the cult design of the Juste un Clou design, it was launched by Cartier New York in 1969. The duality of the project is complemented by a series of ‘behind the scenes’ stills taken by the actor’s older sister, photographer Isabella Elordi.

Jacob and Isabella are known to be very close, with Isabella photographing Jacob for several publications previously. Coupled with the existing Director-Actor relationship with Coppola, the siblings brought a playfulness to the shoot.

The original LOVE bracelet redefined jewellery as a symbol of love and was adored worldwide by beloved icons such as Elizabeth Taylor and Tina Turner as well as modern day contemporaries such as Taylor Swift, and Meghan Markle.
The latest LOVE Unlimited collection pays homage to Cartier’s iconic original creation, while giving it a modern feel and has been ‘re-considered’ for today’s consumer.

The launch of LOVE Unlimited, offers something familiar but different, now the rings are ridged and the bracelets, instead of the solid oval shape that was locked to the wrist, it consists of flexible bands of 200 miniature components have been rendered in 18kt rose, yellow, and white gold.
The signature screw detail remains but to further emphasise the physical flexibility of the pieces, they can be linked together and fashioned into necklaces, bag charms and even belts.
This modern fluidity means the collection is somehow lighter, more adaptable for the wearer and can be taken off with just one hand. Cartier is waking us up to a new era of LOVE… and who wouldn’t want to wake up to a red box at breakfast?
