Today huge crowds gathered along the Mall in London to catch a glimpse of Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, as she made her first appearance in public after revealing she was undergoing cancer treatment earlier this year. She made her first public appearance since then at the annual spectacle of Trooping the Colour for the King’s Birthday Parade.

Arriving in a carriage accompanied by her children, and dressed in all white with a black and white bow about her neck, she was greeted by enormous cheers from the crowd as she arrived at Horse Guards Parade. The Princess holds the position of Colonel of the Irish Guards, which is the regiment responsible for Trooping its Colour this year.

The Princess’ white outfit was perfectly complemented by a sweet pair of flower-shaped pearl earrings by London-based jeweller, Cassandra Goad. The earrings have a special, sentimental meaning for the Princess, as they were the pair she also chose to wear for the christening of her youngest child, Prince Louis, back in 2018. She also wore them to attend the Ladies’ final at Wimbledon last year.
The Princess of Wales’s ‘Cavolfiore’ pearl earrings, are crafted with 18k yellow gold, seven white pearls and tiny diamonds, retail for £5,620 and are inspired by the overflowing baskets of fruit and flowers at Sicilian markets. Goad often takes inspiration from her wide-ranging travels for her designs, with other collections inspired by Morocco, Mexico, China and France. The Princess also owns the ‘Temple of Heaven’ earrings by Cassandra Goad (one of the designer’s bestselling designs which were inspired by the Emperor of China), and has previously worn them to a party to celebrate the wedding of Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall and a reception at the Imperial War Museum.
The Princess’ welcome appearance comes just after she released a statement updating the public on the progress of her treatment, and thanked them for their overwhelming support, which she said had left her and her husband William feeling “blown away.”
