Louis Vuitton’s newest timepiece is a collector’s dream.
The LVKV-02 GMR 6 is the latest creation from its collaboration with respected Finnish watchmaker Kari Voutilainen, and with both Louis Vuitton’s watch division and Voutilainen’s independent workshop starting their journeys in 2002, this partnership is a natural match.
The watch is inspired by Louis Vuitton’s storied heritage in travel and craftsmanship – its name, “Escale,” meaning “stopover,” highlighting the brand’s tradition of making pieces designed for adventurers and global travellers.

The watch case, measuring 40.5mm, is made from tantalum, a metal known for its unique shine, and includes beautiful platinum details. Crafting just the case requires hours of careful work by skilled artisans who polish and finish every piece entirely by hand.
The dial of the LVKV-02 GMR 6 is made of solid gold and decorated using guilloché, creating intricate patterns with vintage machinery from the 18th century. This pattern references Louis Vuitton’s famous Damier design. Surrounding this, the hour circle is hand-painted by artist Maryna Bossy, who uses 28 different colors in a meticulous process that takes more than 30 hours.

One standout feature is the day-night indicator on a smaller dial at the bottom. It features carefully engraved sun and moon designs in Louis Vuitton’s signature colors, saffron and blue, and subtly includes the famous Monogram flower.
Inside the watch, the exclusive GMR 6 movement, made entirely by Kari Voutilainen’s workshop, is visible through the clear back of the case. It consists of 254 parts and includes two escapement wheels for improved accuracy, longer-lasting performance, and ease of use. The watch also includes a second time zone function, perfect for frequent travelers. Adjusting to local time is simple: just press the crown.

Every LVKV-02 GMR 6 comes with its own custom-made Louis Vuitton trunk, handcrafted at the brand’s historic workshops in Asnières. Each trunk is painted by hand to match the design of the watch dial and includes the words “Louis cruises with Kari” to mark the special partnership.
Only five pieces of this special edition watch will ever be produced, making it extremely exclusive, so good luck getting your hands on one.
