Actor Colman Domingo has been spotted on his way to this year’s Met Gala – check out some of the first look images below.
It was confirmed to Something About Rocks that the actor would be wearing Boucheron jewellery to the most coveted night in fashion of the year alongside custom Valentino.
For 2025, the theme of the event is ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’, inspired by the work of Monica Miller, a leading scholar of contemporary African American and Afro-diasporic literature and culture, and her 2009 work, ‘Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity’.
Previous themes have ranged from ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ (2015) – which examined the influence of Chinese art, film and culture on Western fashion – and ‘Camp’ (2019), to ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion’ from last year’s event.
This year, A$AP Rocky will be acting as co-chair of the Met Gala, alongside Domingo, F1 champion Lewis Hamilton, multi-hyphenate singer Pharrell Williams, Vogue editor Anna Wintour, and honorary co-chair, the athlete LeBron James.
Domingo was spotted on his way to the event leaving The Carlyle Hotel wearing a stunning Padma Nacre earring from Boucheron’s Historie de Style high jewellery collection, New Maharajas from 2022. The actor wore this alongside a vibrant pleated blue robe complete with an embellished collar.
The look was created exclusively for Domino by Valentino Creative Director Alessandro Michele. Domingo was confirmed to be wearing “a blue long pleated cape with an ivory linen bolero composed of light gold and silver sequin embroidery with small antique silver canes and ivory feathers.”
The rest of his outfit, meanwhile, was described as being a “black and butter check double breasted wool jacket with straight shoulder, embellished with pearl and crystal embroidery and black hand-woven soutache buttons.”
Alongside this he wore wide leg wool trousers, a butter silk shirt with black stripes and gold lamè thread and an ivory grain de poudre wool vest and plus de pois scarf. The look was completed by a silk flower brooch with hand-painted polka dots and Valentino Garavani accessories.

Following a tradition that dates back almost 25 years, the Met Gala always takes place on the first Monday in May (also the title of the 2016 documentary of the event), which this year falls on May 5th.
Held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (the ‘Met’ in Met Gala), the event is the annual fundraiser for the museum’s Costume Institute (which specifically focuses on fashion and costume design) and is accompanied by a months-long exhibition on the same theme as the Gala night.

Elsewhere in other Met Gala news, A$AP Rocky was spotted wearing some standout vintage pieces from New York-city based fine jeweller, Briony Raymond.
A$AP wore a Briony Raymond Slim Sloan Ring in 18 carat rose gold, a Fancy Brown Diamond Sloan Suspended Ring – also in 18 carat rose Gold.
He teamed this with an antique Georgian cuff which dates back to around 1810, in 19 carat yellow gold. Alongside this he added an Edwardian diamond and seed pearl brooch in platinum alongside some diamond button estate earrings in 18 carat yellow gold, all also from Briony Raymond.
