Vacheron Constantin have opened a short-run exhibition at their Bond Street, London store that will spotlight some of their most prestigious pieces centred around certain themes.
The completely free exhibition, entitled Explore All Ways Possible, opens today (July 20) and will run until August 1 with fans and collectors able to view some of the maison’s creativity and inventiveness since they were founded in 1755.
Largely influenced by the trade voyages undertaken by Francois Constantin in the 19th Century, the exhibition tracks the influences Vacheron have drawn from around the globe.
The first theme of the exhibition is geographical exploration and tells a story from the brand’s origins in Geneva to journeys undertaken all the way to the Middle East. This part of the exhibition spotlights the Overseas models as well as Art Deco pieces inspired by Far Eastern culture. Visitors will also be able to see an American 1921 which was inspired by the decadence of the Roaring Twenties.
The second section of the exhibition focuses on cultural exploration and looks at how Vacheron has used Japanese lacquerwear and pulled from ancient civilisations for inspiration as well as masks and tribal art. The Egerie collection is a point of focus here and how Vacheron was influenced by the world by Haute Couture. Aficionados will also get to view the new Tribute to Great Civilisations series, which are models inspired by some of the treasures held in the Louvre such as the Bust of Akhenaten from Ancient Egypt.
The third and final section in the exhibition is centred on the technical aspects of horology and how Vacheron Constantin have always sought to innovate during their nearly 300-year existence. The focus point of this section is Jalousie watches which date from the 1930’s while there is also a spotlight on pocket watches and shutters designed for travel. The Chronomètre Royal of 1907 will also be on view as will an ultra-thin pocket watch with a mother-of-pearl dial.
Vacheron previously staged an exhibition at Harrods in 2024 to celebrate the 175th birthday of the iconic Knightsbridge department store.
Titled Pioneers of the Exceptional, the exhibition featured a fully immersive 4D virtual reality experience which showcased some of Vacheron’s most historically significant watches. The company also displayed the Tour de l’Ile for the first time in 20 years. The watch is notable for being double sided and is made out of pink gold while featuring a staggering 16 complications.
Vacheron also created the Les Cabinotiers Armillary Tourbillon, a one-of-one edition for the exhibition which features a breathtaking 671 diamonds and has a green dial which matches Harrods’ signature colour. It is also powered by the Calibre 1990 movement which combines 4 patents and 57 complications to represent the synergy between High Jewellery and fine horology.
