Charli XCX’s new album was released last Friday, and the musician let fans know about a watch brand she can’t live without.
On her new single, ‘Card Declined’, the pop star lists off a number of things that she would like to buy including some perfume and a specific designer sofa. And a watch from 200-year-old horological icon, Jaeger-LeCoultre.
Charli XCX is not well known for her interest in watches. In fact, she’s rarely seen with so much as an Apple Watch on her wrist so the Jaeger-LeCoultre shoutout is coming pretty much from nowhere. It’s also a smart brand to be associated with. Not as obvious as Rolex or Audemars Piguet but JLC still has real prestige among those in the know and is not as leftfield as F.P. Journe.
While watches may not be the ‘Guess’ singer’s favourite hobby, she is a longtime fan of fashion and jewellery, with her looks always the talk of the red carpet and her Met Gala looks in particular generate lots of conversation.
Back in 2024, the ‘360’ hitmaker sported a bright white gown by Marni that featured sparkling rhinestones and glass beads, with a punky twist. Designed by Francesco Risso, the stunning gown was created from patchworked vintage t-shirts from the 50s and 70s and Hand-sewn by fifteen seamstresses at the Marni atelier in Milan.
The dress fit perfectly with the event’s theme of Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion while also managing to stay true to the singer’s slightly alternative personality and presence. To balance out the look, XCX opted for a dark lipstick and a unique spiky hairstyle. Her accessories consisted of a matching Marni leather bag with the same embroidered gemstones as her dress and a dazzling tourmaline ring from the brand Dyne.
A year later, Charli traded in the bright white dress for a thoroughly gothic aesthetic. She rocked an all-black ensemble by Ann Demeulemeester, designed by the brand’s current creative director, Stefano Gallici. The look was comprised of a fitted blazer, with a feathered open back waistcoat, a pair of micro-shorts underneath a see-through silk chiffon train lined with feathers and a pair of thigh-high leather boots.
She accessorised with large black feather earcuffs along with a pair of graphic diamond earrings and diamond rings from Bucherer Fine Jewellery. According to the Londoner, the look reimagined a three-piece tailored set that “pays tribute to the self-expression of dandyism”.
She went for a similar vibe at this year’s event with a custom black Saint Laurent dressed topped off by David Yurman jewellery from his Dianthus and Floating Diamonds collections as well as some pieces from Bucherer.
Despite her obvious love for high jewellery, when she married The 1975 drummer George Daniel last year, Charli opted for a relatively low-key platinum wedding band, though her engagement ring was more opulent with its diamonds.
